Archipelago Forage and Picnic

Event Location:

Suomenlinnan HSL-lautta, Kauppatori - Suomenlinna, Helsinki, Uusimaa, Fiinland

Event Description

Want to learn how to forage and use wild herbs? Join us in a day of excursion to Suomenlinna!

Suomenlinna, though it is a short ferry ride from Helsinki, has special plants because of its history.
In the beginning of 19th century the Russians took over and with them new species of plants came in.
Also, the island, in general, can have different plants from the mainland. Even for experienced forager

who came to our past events, this is an opportunity to learn archipelago particular vegetation!

We will meet up at the ferry port. Ferry ticket is not included in the admission.

The foraging workshop includes:

• A beginner’s foraging walk to identify wild edible and medicinal plants

• Learning to identify and use the most common Finnish wild herbs & vegetables safely

• Learning about preserving plants – drying, blanching, and freezing

• E-book about Finnish wild herbs and vegetables.

The workshop is hosted by Anna Nyman. Anna is a biologist and a certified wild food guide. She also studies herbalism and finished her studies in August 2022.
