Slow Food Helsinki’s allotment garden at Annala

In this hands-on workshop, agroecologist and permaculture designer Joshua Finch will show us how to build and maintain garden beds.

Joshua Finch is a certified permaculture designer with over twelve years of hands-on experience and in-depth study. From 2016 to 2021 he built one of the first agroecological farms in Finland as an experimental space for teaching and testing regenerative practices.

We’ll learn the basics of permaculture design principles and how to read the landscape with regards to water, access, soil health, and other essential features of mainframe permaculture design.

Joshua will show us how to support ecosystem processes, support soil health, and increase diversity. We will also cover topics like how to care for perennials, how to build a garden of useful plants, seasonal pests, and how to make the most of your space.

The workshop will be held at Slow Food Helsinki’s allotment garden at Annala. The garden is next to Annalan Huvila (Annala Manor), one of the oldest, cultivated parts of Helsinki.
